Bagels

Could have sworn I put these on here before but anyway. Bagels.

  • 3.5 cups water
  • 4.5 cups flour
  • 1/3 white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbs veg oil
  • 2 tbs yeast
  • plus a large pot of boiling water and 2 tbps bicarb of soda
Plus toppings

Mix dough as per usual, form into bagels when done, rise again, boil for 20 seconds each side, and bake.

Mind you I might try out a totally different method if I have time sometime:

Chicken tikka pittas

A variant on the chicken and falaffel wraps meal that's not unwelcome. Marinate the chicken in tikka paste before grilling and cutting up to serve, with salad, pittas and a yogurt, mint and lemon sauce.

Bruschetta - various

Variant 1: (the green one on the left)
Anchovies, tomato, lemon juice, roast garlic, parsley, basil, marjoram. Into blender, salt and pepper.

Variant 2: Camembert and salami

Variant 3: Roasted red peppers, green onions, blue cheese.

Variant 4: Caramelized red onions in a red wine reduction with slices Camembert on the top. Maybe could have done with some near-carpaccio beef slivers on top.

Everything is on sliced baguette (in this case) grilled with olive oil and seasoning.

Baked Eggs for Two

Just one of those things that one forgets to make, it's so simple.

chopped ham
4 eggs
40g grated cheese
80ml cream

Grease a couple of ramekins and put the ham at the bottom. Combine the rest of the stuff, season, and pour on top of the ham. Bake at 150 for 25 minutes or until just cooked. Serve with toast fingers.
